I always find it hard to explain my music in one genre.
Of course, you can call it melodic house. Sometimes it touches deep house. Sometimes it has a bit of progressive energy. Sometimes people may even say melodic techno, depending on the track or the set.
But for me, that is not really the point.
The best way I can describe my sound is:
melodic + emotional house music which puts you in another world to feel yourself again.
That is the sentence I always come back to.
I do not want to make music that just sounds nice in the background. I want music that does something to you. Music that slowly pulls you in. Music that makes you forget the normal world for a moment. Music that gives you space to feel things you maybe did not even know were still there.
Not every track needs to be dramatic. Not every set needs to be deep all the time. I also love energy, groove, movement, sweat, smiles, connection.
But there has to be feeling.
That is the difference for me.
Very early on, when I started going deeper into the Amsterdam house scene, I danced for days and nights to sets from artists who really shaped me: NTO, Adana Twins, Joachim Pastor, Trilucid, Olivier Weiter, Helsloot, Tinlicker, Mees Salomé, Sébastien Léger, Rose Ringed, Eelke Kleijn, Corren Cavini, Romain Garcia, Stephan Jolk, Yotto, Hollt, Agents Of Time and many others.
But I did not only dance.
I watched them.
I wanted to understand what makes an excellent DJ really excellent. And I noticed quite fast that it is not only about playing good tracks. Of course the tracks matter. But the real difference is somewhere else.
They tell stories.
They stay connected with the audience. They feel the room. They understand when to push, when to hold back, when to open something up, and when to let the whole place explode. They want to inspire people, not just entertain them.
And still, they never lose their own style.
That is what I admire most.
The best DJs have this charismatic way of playing where you always feel their own signature. You can hear who they are. They do not become random. They do not just follow the crowd. They guide the crowd.
And when it really works, people leave the floor with this feeling:
“Wow. What was that? That was so beautiful. That was next level.”
That feeling stayed with me.
And honestly, that is exactly what I try to create in my own sets as well.
A good melody can change the whole room.
A warm bassline can make people move without thinking.
A break can create a moment where everyone breathes together.
And then, when the beat comes back, it means more.
That is what I am searching for when I play.
I want my sets to feel like a story. Not a random list of tracks. I want the energy to move somewhere. Sometimes slowly. Sometimes with more pressure. Sometimes emotional. Sometimes euphoric. But always with a reason.
For me, emotional house is not about being soft. It can be powerful. It can be intense. It can hit hard. But it should still have soul.
That is also why I like playing longer sets. You have time to build something. You can take people from one mood to another. You can open a door, let them step into another world, and then bring them back differently.
Maybe that sounds big.
But honestly, that is exactly why I love this music.
When it works, people are not only dancing. They are somewhere else for a while. More open. More free. More connected. Maybe even a bit more themselves.
That is the feeling I want to create as a DJ and producer from Amsterdam.
Not perfect.
Not polished.
Not made to impress everyone.
Just real.
Music that puts you in another world to feel yourself again.
