On Sunday, I had backstage access at The Gardens of Babylon at 528 Ibiza. I met WhoMadeWho, Mind Against and JANE RYSE, spoke with them and danced alongside them. What stayed with me was not only the music, but how open, approachable and grounded they all were.
From behind the booth, I could see something that is easy to miss from the middle of a dance floor: they were constantly reading the crowd.
They did not rush from one obvious peak to the next. They allowed tension to build over long stretches. They held back when holding back made the next moment stronger. And when the release finally arrived, the bass landed with enormous physical impact.
The power did not come from the drop alone. It came from everything they had built before it.
That balance between patience and impact is difficult. A DJ needs the confidence to let a musical idea breathe, the sensitivity to understand the room and the timing to know when the crowd is ready.
This is exactly the kind of storytelling I want to take further in my own Melodic House sets: a journey with contrast, emotion and space—then a release that feels inevitable and completely unexpected at the same time.
It was an unforgettable evening, both musically and personally. It reminded me that the strongest artists can create something huge on stage while remaining completely human away from it.
